Bucno noch

We celebrated "Bucno noch" (Pumpkin night) with Kendra's classmates. Slovenes don't celebrate Halloween but they do carve pumpkins. We had snacks, saw a little show complete with Kindergarteners singing and dancing and then carved pumpkins. Kendra got to sleep in her class room and we picked her up in the morning. All very exciting, especially when you are 5! Blake met up with schoolmate Klemen and they carved and laughed and ate roasted chestnuts to their hearts content.

Multnomah Falls

This summer we spent some time in my hometown, Portland,Oregon. The visit wouldn't be complete without a visit to Multnomah Falls. We hauled our friends from California, Brian and Jenn Selke with us and got some photos along the way just so we can say we did it.

Blake and his friends got to try out the paintball guns at his 9th birthday party. There are some great perks to having a dad in youth ministry!

Kendra aka Wonder Woman

The other day while we were getting ready for the day; Kendra and I were in front of the mirror doing our hair. Kendra was very seriously parting her hair down the middle and smoothing it to the sides with some giant glitsy clips. She gazed into her reflection and said aloud, "I think I look like...some kind of.....fashion....Like Wonder Woman!"

I replied in all seiousness that I thought she looked better than Wonder Woman; although equally stunning as I remembered my childhood vacations spent watching the bracelet bedeckled, headband wielding heroine.

Yes, I am raising Wonder Woman.
